Senior analyst Ayaz Amir assaulted in Lahore

LAHORE (INN) – Some unidentified men on Friday severally thrashed senior journalist and analyst Dunya News Ayaz Amir.

The senior journalist was on his way back home after leaving Dunya News premises.

The unidentified men also snatched his volet and mobile phone.

Dunya News Journalist Tariq Habib shared a picture of Ayaz Amir on social networking site Twitter and wrote, “On his return after program on Dunya TV, senior analyst Ayaz Amir Sahib and his driver were assaulted by unknown people.”

“As soon as we left the office, a car blocked our vehicle and six people tortured us,” Ayaz Amir said.

Mujibur Rahman Shami

Senior journalist and Dunya News analyst Mujibur Rahman Shami condemned the violence against Ayaz Amir and said that it is a very shameful act and he strongly condemns the attack on him.

He further said that Ayaz Amir is a respected journalist, the Punjab government should take immediate notice of this incident, the attackers should be arrested immediately, and all journalist unions should adopt a joint strategy in this regard.

Mazhar Abbas

Senior journalist and analyst Mazhar Abbas also condemned the attack and said that political differences can be made with Ayaz Amir but the attack is a very serious matter, it is a challenge for the administration of Punjab.

He further said that such incidents against journalists are constantly happening, adding that attackers should be arrested immediately, this is a very sad and reprehensible incident.
